QUALIFICATIONS,REQUIREMENTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Basic Salary Scale: Ksh. 124,630.00 - 172,350.00 (CPSB 03)House Allowance: Ksh. 35,000.00 p.m Commuter Allowance: KSh. 16,000.00 p.m.Other Allowances as Per the SRC CircularsTerms of Service: Permanent and PensionableRequirements for Appointment-;-:Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Degree from a recognized institution;Master of Science Degree in any of the following disciplines:- Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Surgery, Livestock Economics, Forensic Science, Animal Nutrition and Feed Sciences, Animal Genetics and Breeding, Clinical Studies, Veterinary Public Health, Livestock Production Systems, Poultry Science, Veterinary Anatomy, Reproductive Biology, Veterinary Pathology and Microbiology, Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Diagnosis, Fish Science, Apiary Science, Master of Public Health, Applied Veterinary Parasitology, Applied Microbiology, Comparative Mammalian Physiology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Wildlife Health and Management, Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics, Animal Production or Aquatic Sciences from a recognized institution;Have at least ten (10) years of relevant experience, five (5) of which should be at a senior management level in fisheries or aquaculture.Registered by Kenya Veterinary Board:Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme Cóurse lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognised institution;Have shown outstanding administrative capability and professional competence required in managing Veterinarv Services.Duties and Responsibilities -:Evaluate slaughterhouse designs and make recommendations for approvalEnforce food safety and quality assurance regulations in local and export slaughterhouses and other animal product processing plantsEvaluate export/import request documents for live animals, animal products, by-products, and inputs, and make appropriate recommendationsPlan field efficacy trials for drugs, vaccines, and acaricidesDisseminate information on animal health, animal products, and marketsCollaborate with stakeholders in the provision of veterinary servicesCoordinate veterinary services at ports of entryOrganize disease searches, investigations, monitoring, mapping, and outbreak responsesConduct investigations on antimicrobial and acaricidal resistanceLiaise with training institutions on the training and development of staff, students, and internsPlan collaborative activities with relevant stakeholders in the animal health sectorCoordinate inspection of private veterinary practices and input outlets in collaboration with the Kenya Veterinary BoardPrepare project proposals for resource mobilizationPrepare and implement work plans and budgetsPlan, monitor and evaluate performance of staff against the set targets.
