QUALIFICATIONS,REQUIREMENTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh. 124,630.00 - 172,350.00 (CPSB 03)
House Allowance: Ksh. 35,000.00 p.m
Commuter Allowance: KSh. 16,000.00 p.m.
Other Allowances as Per the SRC Circulars
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Requirements for Appointment-;-:
Served in the grade of Deputy Director Fisheries an equivalent position for at least three (3) years in job group ‘Q’.
Bachelor's degree in Fisheries, Aquatic Sciences, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
Have at least ten (10) years of relevant experience, five (5) of which should be at a senior management level in fisheries or aquaculture.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of fisheries management, aquaculture systems, and relevant national and county policy frameworks.
Be conversant with fisheries laws, environmental regulations, and blue economy strategies.
Have excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities -:
Develop and implement fisheries and aquaculture policies, strategies, and work plans.
Oversee sustainable development of fishery resources and promotion of fish farming (aquaculture).
Coordinate capacity building and extension services for fish farmers, cooperatives, and stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with relevant fisheries laws, regulations, and safety standards.
Monitor, evaluate, and report on fisheries programs, projects, and investments.


Promote value addition, fish processing, and market access for fish and fish products.
Collaborate with local and international partners in fisheries and blue economy initiatives.
Lead research, innovation, and data collection on fisheries trends and resource status.
Supervise, mentor, and appraise fisheries officers and support staff.
Represent the county in intergovernmental forums and fisheries sector platforms.
Plan, monitor and evaluate performance of staff against the set targets.
