QUALIFICATIONS,REQUIREMENTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.102,860.00 137,070.00 (CPSB 04) House Allowance: Ksh. 28,000.00 p.m Commuter Allowance: KSh. 14,000.00 p.m.Other Allowances as Per the SRC CircularsTerms of Service: Permanent and PensionableRequirements for Appointment-;-:Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Degree from a recognized institution;Master of Science Degree in any of the following disciplines:- Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Surgery, Livestock Economics, Forensic Science, Animal Nutrition and Feed Sciences, Animal Genetics and Breeding, Clinical Studies, Veterinary Public Health, Livestock Production Systems, Poultry Science, Veterinary Anatomy, Reproductive Biology, Veterinary Pathology and Microbiology, Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Diagnosis, Fish Science, Apiary Science, Master of Public Health, Applied Veterinary Parasitology, Applied Microbiology, Comparative Mammalian Physiology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Wildlife Health and Management, Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics, Animal Production or Aquatic Sciences from a recognized institution;Have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience, three (3) of which should be at a senior management level in fisheries or aquaculture.Registered by Kenya Veterinary Board:Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme Cóurse lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognised institution;Have shown outstanding administrative capability and professional competence required in managing Veterinarv Services.Duties and Responsibilities -:Organise disease searches, investigations, monitoring, and mappingEvaluate export/import request documents and make appropriate recommendationsCarry out investigations on antimicrobial and acaricidal resistanceCoordinate programmes for the control and eradication of epizootic and zoonotic diseases and pestsUndertake postmortem examinations and other diagnostic testsInterpret laboratory results and make appropriate recommendationsOrganise stakeholder training sessions, seminars, workshops, field days, shows, exhibitions, and conferences on vector control, animal health, breeding, welfare, and good veterinary practicesCompile technical reports on animal health and related activitiesLead teams in inspecting, grading, and licensing plants processing animal products, as well as transport carriers and containersEnforce food safety and quality assurance regulations in local and export slaughterhouses and animal product processing plantsIssue animal health certificates in line with regulatory requirementsPlan field efficacy trials for veterinary drugs, vaccines, and acaricidesDisseminate information on animal health, animal products, and markets to relevant stakeholdersCollaborate with stakeholders in the provision of veterinary servicesUndertake forensic investigations and compile appropriate reportsOffer veterinary services at major ports of entryPlan, monitor and evaluate performance of staff against the set targets.
