QUALIFICATIONS,REQUIREMENTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Basic Salary Scale: Ksh. 90,200.00 124,630.00 (CPSB 04)House Allowance: Ksh.28, 000Commuter Allowance: Ksh.12, 000 p.m.Other Allowances as Per the SRC CircularsTerms of Service: Permanent and PensionableRequirements for Appointment-;-:Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Degree from a recognized institution;Master of Science Degree in any of the following disciplines:- Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Surgery, Livestock Economics, Forensic Science, Animal Nutrition and Feed Sciences, Animal Genetics and Breeding, Clinical Studies, Veterinary Public Health, Livestock Production Systems, Poultry Science, Veterinary Anatomy, Reproductive Biology, Veterinary Pathology and Microbiology, Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Diagnosis, Fish Science, Apiary Science, Master of Public Health, Applied Veterinary Parasitology, Applied Microbiology, Comparative Mammalian Physiology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Wildlife Health and Management, Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics, Animal Production or Aquatic Sciences from a recognized institution;Have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience, three (3) of which should be at a senior management level in fisheries or aquaculture.Registered by Kenya Veterinary Board:Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4)weeks from a recognized institution;Have shown outstanding administrative capability and professional competence required in managing Veterinarv Services.Duties and Responsibilities -:Participate in carrying out economic impact assessments on animal diseasesUndertake forensic investigations and compile appropriate reportsOffer veterinary services at ports of entryUndertake disease control activities including disease search, mapping, vaccination, and enforcement of livestock movement regulationsTrain stakeholders on vector control programmes, animal health, breeding, welfare, and good veterinary practicesTreat sick animals and administer veterinary interventionsAnalyse data and prepare reports on animal health, animal products, and marketsUndertake postmortem examinations and other diagnostic testsInterpret laboratory results and make appropriate recommendationsInspect, grade, and license plants processing animal products and transport carriers/containersExamine animals and issue animal health certificatesParticipate in field efficacy trials for veterinary drugs, vaccines, and acaricidesDisseminate data and information on animal health, products, and marketsCollaborate with stakeholders in the provision of veterinary servicesPlan, monitor and evaluate performance of staff against the set targets.
