QUALIFICATIONS,REQUIREMENTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Basic Salary Scale: Ksh. 90,200.00 - 124,630.00 (CPSB 05)
House Allowance: Ksh. 28,000.00 p.m
Commuter Allowance: KSh. 12,000.00 p.m.
Other Allowances as Per the SRC Circulars
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Requirements for Appointment-;-:
Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines:- Animal Health Management; Animal Production, Animal Production and Health Management, Environmental Health Sciences, Livestock Economics or Health Extension from a recognised institution;
Masters degree in any of the following disciplines:- Animal Production, Animal Breeding, Animal Nutrition and Feed Sciences, Environmental Science, Veterinary Public Health, Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics, Poultry Science, Apiary Science, Aquatic Science or Wildlife Health and Management from a recognized institution;
Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four weeks from a recognised institution;
Registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board;
Demonstrate a high degree of professional competence, administrative capabilities in initiating and implementing animal health services.
Duties and Responsibilities -:
Plan disease control activities in line with county and national veterinary strategies
Organise animal identification activities including tagging and traceability systems
Manage veterinary farms, quarantine stations, and sentinel herds
Organise and deploy teams for animal disease surveillance and reporting
Issue livestock movement permits in accordance with regulations
Plan and coordinate farmers’ field training sessions on animal health and production
Analyse and disseminate animal health information to stakeholders and relevant agencies
Carry out monitoring and evaluation of animal health programs and interventions
Prepare preliminary assessment reports for the construction of dips, slaughterhouses, and farm structures
Gather data and compile technical reports on animal health and animal welfare issues.
Plan, monitor and evaluate performance of staff against the set targets.
