QUALIFICATIONS,REQUIREMENTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordination, checking and recommending for approval of tender documents including Bills of Quantities prepared by Quantity Surveyors in the unit to ensure professional standards and accuracy
• Counter checking of site measurements and valuations, variation orders, calculation of fluctuations and preparation of final accounts.
• Preparation of cost estimates, Bills of Quantities, monthly valuation on site, site re-measurements, preparation of variation orders and final accounts involving the implementation of development projects for various Ministries and government Agencies
•In charge of all Architectural, Engineering and Quantity Surveying services in the county
•Coordination of design, supervision of construction and maintenance of Public buildings, civil and other Public works
• The officer will be responsible for research activities, administration and supervision of all staff working him/her

Requirements for Appointment

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Building Economics/Quantity Surveying or its equivalent and relevant qualifications from a recognized institution.
• Been registered with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya as a Quantity surveyor.
• Corporate membership of the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK) or Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK);
• Certificate in a senior management course not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
• Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
• Have minimum Seven (7) years' relevant experience in management Three (3) of which must be in a management position or equivalent positions either in the Public Service or Private sector
• Demonstrated knowledge of the budgeting process
• Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and administrative capability required for effective planning, direction, control and coordination of quantity surveying function.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant legislation including the Constitution of Kenya, County Government Act, 2012
• Ability to build and lead cohesive teams
